Hardy, deciduous perennial bulb with bright, star-shaped, orange flowers from Jan. to April and sword-shaped leaves arranged in a fan. They do not need to be lifted annually and grow in semi-shade and sun.Birds relish the seeds. Interplant with evergreen, clump-forming plants such as Dietesbicolor or Anthericum saundersiae. It is also beautiful as a cut flower.
