This very hardy, deciduous, drought and fire resistant, upright tree is fast growing in cultivation. Showy, sweetly scented white flowers start blooming on bare branches in July and well into Sept. before the leaves appear. The flowers dry beautifully and can be used for pot pourrii. It has tough, fissured bark and is a good bird, insect and butterfly tree. With its non-aggressive root system it makes an ideal tree for a small garden planted in sun or semi-shade. Used medicinally.
