Fairly hardy, medium to tall, fast growing, very attractive, evergreen tree that can be planted in wet areas. The white flowers with conspicuous stamens are borne in large branched terminal heads from October to May. They are heavily scented and have copious nectar. The fruit, which is shiny, bright purple and very decorative, is relished by birds, mammals and people.
