Hardy, evergreen, multi-stemmed shrub or small
tree with arching stems and straight, long, sharp spines. The dark green leaves are small and
shiny. Clusters of small, white flowers
are borne from Nov. to Jan, followed by whitish-yellow or reddish fruit
capsules. It makes a useful addition to
a security hedge. Provides safe nesting
sites and food for the birds.
