A very decorative, semi-deciduous, ornamental shrub with glossy dark green foliage. The unusual red or yellow flowers which look like an open mouth with a spot of jam on the lip, appear in summer. Fairly fast growing, the Jammy mouth may be trained up a support or pruned back hard after flowering to keep it neat. Plant in a container or shrub border in full sun in good garden soil with plenty of compost and water well in summer. Attracts butterflies.
